ABANDONED BUILDINGS IN ILLINOIS

NOTE-- If you go onto these, or any, locations without the owner's permission, you are trespassing. If you break something to get in, you're breaking and entering. If you steal something, you're stealing. Obviously. IF YOU GET CAUGHT YOU CAN GO TO JAIL. Also it's entirely possible dead mice will fall through the ceiling onto your head, ew, so yeah.
Enter without permission at your own risk. (taking pics from the road is totally legal though, as far as I know.)

Also, a lot of these are drive-bys, so I don't know if they're safe. If you do go in, be careful, don't run unless cops are chasing you, and watch your step! If you end up dying in a creepy snake infested basement it's your own fault. Don't blame me.

Knox county:

-West side of the Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg (on west main street) there's a big old 3 story house. Driving down main st, you can't miss it. The grass is mowed and there's a little building behind it that gets used pretty much every day.

-Harrington House, 91 W Simmons st., Galesburg, IL
Large brick building. Used to be an orphanage, now it's just sitting there waiting to be bought. Pretty much in the middle of town. It's for sale here: http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/91-W-Simmons-St-Galesburg-IL-61401/91382368_zpid/

-Willis Steel, 156 N Academy st, Galesburg IL. Factory type building. Go south on Academy street right off of Main, and you'll see it. Across from Hansen Lumber.

-31 S Chambers st., Galesburg, IL
Little two story house, kinda looks like one of those saloon buildings from old westerns. Behind Alfano's Pizza. (Owned by the guy who runs the restaurant.)

-Abingdon Pottery/Abingdon Sanitary Manufacturing Company, N Main st/E Hunter st, Abingdon, IL
Factory where they made toilets and pottery. More info (and picture from when it was in use! check out those old cars) here: http://www.kville.org/kchistory/Pottery.html

More Galesburg stuff...
This 2008 PDF document I found contains a list of properties in Galesburg and in some cases, lists the owner, so if you find a building you can search for the address (or street) and see if the pdf has anything to say. Figuring out the person's contact info is a whole other matter though. The list starts on page 91.

Warren county:

-On the corner of 105th st. and 30th ave. Can be seen from the road. South of Roseville, near Youngstown and Swan Creek.
2 1/2-story farmhouse. It is very old and abandoned but there are animals right next door.

-Corner of 30th st. and 90th ave. Near the amish store/Lee's Bakery, in between Roseville and Smithshire.
2 story, really interesting little house. Looks like a mansion, but is actually very small.

-On 40th street, a little past 130th ave. Near Smithshire. On the railway in between Smithshire and Ormonde. Google earth "Ponemah, IL", it's right next to it, south of the railroad tracks.
One large warehouse, and 2 smaller buildings, along with a dump with a lot of old weird stuff. Really cool location. Was used by the army during WW2.

-West side of Berwick, IL. In town, before the Berwick Grain Co., there is a mexican-looking abandoned house.

Henderson county:

-On 1900 E, south of 1300 N. Visible from the road.
Newer 2-story abandoned house and an old barn. Overgrown but still visible from the road. FILLED with old junk. The elderly lady who lived there didn't take care of the house, so when she died it was already a disaster, and no one wanted to clean it up. So it's been abandoned ever since. It's a very creepy house, doesn't have a good vibe. Recommended if you like nightmares about freaky old lady ghosts.

McDonough county:

-Vishnu Springs Hotel, Tennesee, IL. Near Colchester. From Tennessee, go north on Co Rd 350 E, then turn left onto 1100 N. Keep going west, around a bend, then you can see the gate, and a trail. There are hidden cameras, and the grounds are maintained.
They may have an open house this summer (2015), so there's a chance to visit it without breaking the law. Check out the facebook page for updates! https://www.facebook.com/groups/161261128547/

Mason county:

-Gatton Mansion, Bath, IL. Unsure of exact location, but Bath is a small town so it shouldn't be hard to find. Brick mansion.
